Introducing the Conference Organizers

About Communicating for Change

Communicating for Change (CFC) is a cutting-edge development communications organization that specializes in raising Africans’ awareness of important development issues. CFC is a non-governmental, non-profit organization which uses radio, television, print, market research, capacity building, and special events to help change behavior and attitudes about vital social issues.

CFC’s wholistic approach to research based communications, coupled with its strong partnership with civil society players has made many past program activities hard hitting, informative, and life changing; research results have shown that audiences’ perceptions, and awareness of issues such as HIV-AIDS, generational conflict, and gender roles have changed for the positive.

CFC is experienced in developing national communications campaigns on key development issues, which include media partnerships, training, audience research, production of information materials, special events and film screenings, panel discussions, and evaluation.

CFC has an excellent track record in documentary production; in 2004, CFC won three awards (Best Director, Best Script, and Best Television Documentary) at Africast a biennial conference for African broadcasters, and the previous year, CFC won an award for outstanding documentary film production at the tenth year anniversary celebration of the Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN).  CFC has also won international awards in West Africa and in Europe, and programs have been broadcast by many international stations.

Besides documentary films, CFC is experienced in the production of short films and public service announcements (PSAs).  In 1999, CFC produced numerous PSAs on democracy and good governance which were emotive, cutting edge expressions of the men-and -women-on-the-street’s feelings and perceptions – at a critical time of political change in the country.  The PSAs, which focused on women, children and the disabled’s views of democracy and good governance were highly praised and recorded high viewership on television.

CFC has a national reach and works in partnership with media, civil society, and the private and public sectors, to ensure that social programming is heard from the grassroots right up to Nigeria’s decision makers. CFC’s wholistic approach to events planning by being theme and content led has ensured that events were entertaining, informative and well orchestrated, having a lasting impact on audiences. CFC has provided consultancy services in the area of strategic planning and communications strategy development, productions, and audience based evaluations for international and Nigerian clients.
