Message Focus: There is a lot of examination malpractice existing in our educational system. The problem starts from the establishment, then the homes and the values society places on hard work and honesty. Youths must be encouraged to develop themselves through determination and hardwork.

Summary: Sandra is a hardworking medical student. All would have been well except that her lecturer is making passes at her. Her exams are coming up and all around Sandra are temptations to rely on anything other than her intellect. As she holds out against these temptations we question the price society pays for those who aren't so strong.

Message Focus: Human right abuses and sexual crimes exist, especially against the youths. The attitude of guardians to their wards leaves a lot to be desired. There should be a concerted effort to protect defenseless youths from the machinations of manipulative adults.

Summary: Ngozi brought Nkem from the village and promised to send her to school. Instead, she turns Nkem into an unpaid slave and a ready victim for her husband's indiscriminate lust. When Nkem gets pregnant and points an accusing finger at Ngozi's husband, a chain of events lead to a shocking climax where all the lives touched will never be the same.

Message Focus: Teachers have been and are being grossly undervalued today. Yet they form the bedrock of education and development. After doing their job, it is only fair that they be remunerated. Teachers should not be seen as a professional outcast, rather they should be allowed their pride of place in society.

Summary: Mr. Kojo is a hardworking but poorly paid teacher. The pitiable state of his income is reflected in the constant quarrels he has with his wife. Even students who admire him do not wish to contemplate the idea of being teachers themselves. As Mr. Kojo tries to make ends meet by doing extra jobs, his effectiveness as a teacher declines. The students notice this and when Barrister Williams, the local government chairman, visits the school, the students put him to task. Then Mrs. Kojo turns up too….

Summary: When the rent at Hope Rising is increased, people are outraged. The increase affects every other thing, even the price of a drink. Before long, everyone is agitating for a riot but thanks to T.J's friend, Femi Doherty, everyone learns a lesson or two in conflict resolution.

Summary: Lucky witnesses an accident on the highway and becomes a target for Henry's new article. The interview leads to some revelations about Lucky's past yet tell us little about what happened to the kid that was hit on the road. Kaltume and the child's mother try to find this out in this bitter sweet story.

Summary: Clara, Cynthia's former school mother, is back in town. But this is not the same Clara that left town. Even Simply Sophie finds this new Clara an uncomfortable companion. Everyone attributes the changes in her to the loss of her parents, but when Sophie finds out that she sells her body for cash, all hell breaks loose. It is left to Fortune to help Clara put the pieces of her life back together again.

Summary: Faruk is a freshman on campus and the cult guys want him to join. Fortune and T. J. are not much help and his parents do not appear to be supportive. When Faruk's mother takes matters into her own hands, the whole story takes a different turn that might be a lesson for all.

Message Focus: Despite Nigeria's recent transition to democracy, there are still pockets of discrimination against tribe, sex and status. Everybody should be given the right to contest any elective post without the fear of being discriminated against. Females who are well qualified should be encouraged to offer their service to the nation.

Summary: University life wouldn't be complete without the non-academic functions both the boys and girls enjoy, and its time to elect the new Social Secretary. The chips are down, and there are two main candidates up for the job – T J and Patricia. But because Patricia is a girl, no one is taking her seriously as a candidate for the post, despite having a great awareness of the issue and the skill to tackle them. Patricia faces several obstacles as she tries to prove that even though she is Patricia and not Patrick, she still has plenty to offer.

It stands to reason that the underlying guide for decision-making should be positivity of any such values and the need to make the right choices in any value system. Bad traditional and foreign influences should be eradicated as they leave indelible scars on their recipients.

Summary: Kessiana's mother is eager to have her 'circumcised' so that she will be accepted into traditional society, despite protests from Kessiana's father. Cynthia, Kessiana's cousin, is hungry for the sophisticated life symbolized by Simply Sophie's circle. Both Kessiana and Cynthia confront the realities of the experiences they fall into, and emerge from their pools of regret, scarred.

When Mrs. Seka opens Fortune's eyes to the implication of his actions, he realises that finding the money to pay back Barrister Williams is the beginning of his problems. But first, he has to find Lucky…

She lives in the shadow of her father's reputation and can't seem to convince people of her personal competence. Her fiancée is not very encouraging and even her best friend cannot see why Laraba is making such a fuss!

Summary: Henry shoots his mouth too far with a bus conductor. The bus conductor turns out to be a graduate with qualifications but no job. To save face, Henry promises to help. But he gets a rude shock, when he finds that getting a job is much harder than he thought.

Summary: In an unusual act of faith T.J leaves Fortune in charge of Mastervibes while the former goes for his industrial attachment. In the blink of an eye Fortune transforms into an autocratic dictator with Lucky as the scapegoat for his superiority complex. When Fortune gives Henry an interview and criticizes the government, it becomes apparent how easily people blame others for the sins they themselves are most guilty of.

Summary: Tariah is an unemployed graduate with excellent qualifications, which include a Masters in Business Administration. His futile search for a job has made him the laughing stock of his friends, especially T.J and Fortune. His girlfriend, Simply Sophie does not see any point in an economically futile relationship. His father is also worried about this situation, and besides, he is tired of lending his shoes to Tariah for unsuccessful interviews! However a chance encounter with Prince – a disabled youth – makes Tariah consider more innovative career paths.

Summary: Cynthia just has to go to this party. After all it is the rave. All her friends will be there and that fine guy who has been eyeing her for quite a while. There is just one problem; her parents insist that there will be no more all night parties. Their reason? The rate of armed robbery has turned most neighbourhoods including theirs into a war zone. Disabled people should also be treated with the same respect and encouragement given to everyone else. If not, society itself becomes a further impediment to facing the challenges that life and the future will throw their way.

Summary: Ronke is a gifted "Modern Languages" student with a disability. Through hard work and talent she manages to win a coveted scholarship to study French and Spanish in their native countries. The opportunity is one she never dared hope for, but now it has arrived, she finds that making the decision of whether to stay or go isn't as easy as it initially appeared.

Message Focus: The belief that crime is the only route that pays is pervading our society. It is important to note that whatever pressures that one faces, nothing is worth risking one's life and reputation for. When in doubt about what to do, it is sometimes best to ask one's conscience. The answer is usually just a choice between what is right and what is wrong.

Summary: Bayo's father is going to die unless he can raise enough money for his operation - soon. Neither he nor Fortune can figure out a way to come up with half a million naira in such a short time, without doing something illegal. Once they cross the line into the dark underworld of crime, the borders fade, and one bad thing seems just as good as another. Little do they understand that the path they have chosen only leads to tragedy for Bayo's family.

This has proven to be the most effective way to fight against the evil of sexual harassment. Break the silence.

Summary: Cynthia's friend Bunmi has been studying hard, making her way peacefully through University. Now, in her final year, the victory of graduation is about to be snatched away. Her pretty face and lively dressing has caught the attention of one of her lecturers, and he isn't satisfied with simply admiring her from afar. Instead, she finds herself fighting silence to stop her free spirit being trapped by this lecherous teacher.

The object of his affection is Binta, a beautiful young lady that steps into his shop one day, as if out of a dream. After an intense but very brief time together, she just as mysteriously steps out of his life again. However, she leaves behind something that will make sure that he will never, ever, forget her.

WASTE OF ENERGY

TOPIC: ENVIRONMENT - ALTERNATIVE ENERGY/AIR AND NOISE POLLUTION

Message Focus: With the energy crisis that is engulfing the world as a whole, it is time people start to consider, invest in and use solar energy. This is a viable source of electricity that isn't used enough despite its abundance. Indeed, although the initial cost of solar energy is heavy, it more than pays in the long run. Its safety and user friendliness are also major advantages. People should be encouraged to use this viable source of energy.

Summary: HopeRising and the entire district are in the throes of an Energy Crisis. Local vagrants keep stealing units from the power stations and electricity lines so people are forced to rely on their own means of generating electricity or do without. This has resulted in health hazards of several forms. The gases and noise are clogging lungs and brains, the hospital can't afford a constant electricity supply, and patients are paying the price. All hope seems lost until Henry comes up with an idea that might allow everyone to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

ONE SHOT, TOO MANY

Message Focus: Cases of corruption in the police force are prevalent in our society. There is a need for all of us to recognize our rights and not encourage this trend amongst those who have sworn to protect us. Nobody should be above the law.

Summary: It would have been a pretty uneventful journey down to HopeRising. Cynthia might not have to pay the transport fare; after all Lucky is the conductor on the bus she has entered. But things take a dramatic turn when the bus is stopped by a police officer demanding a bribe. Cynthia's righteous indignation enrages the police officer and he fires a single near fatal shot. Lucky is hit. But it was an accident. Then again, was it?

FOLLOWING MY HEART

Message Focus: When it comes to career choices, it is important that parents act as guides, advising where necessary but leaving the bulk of career choices and decisions for the child to make. Children should be encouraged to follow their heart and pursue careers that give them the most joy and fulfilment. This fulfilment will certainly help them to cope with the peculiar challenges their chosen careers will present.

Summary: Sammy is a young successful medical doctor. But he is unhappy. All his life he has always wanted to be a musician but parental pressures prevented him. His siblings are successful lawyers engineers and accountants and Sammy dare not think of crossing his father whom he loves very much. A chance encounter with TJ and Fortune sets this young man on the path of dreams again. But this time, does Sammy have the courage to follow the calling of his heart?

Message Focus: Many people with congenital conditions are not given the care they need to lead quality lives. In the case of those with Sickle Cell Anaemia, they are sometimes treated as outcasts who can't be loved "because they will die any way". This is an outdated judgement. New medical research is revealing that with the right diet and good medical care, the SS sufferer can live long healthy lives.

Summary: Jide is a sunny young boy. He is a joy to his mother and sister, especially when he is not going through a major health crisis. For Jide is a Sickle cell carrier and everyday his mother wakes up with the fear that he might die anytime. His sister, Rita is lucky. Though she is a carrier she is not stricken with the disease. Her own dilemma is rather unique; she has to choose between her love for Henry and the fear of what the future holds. As Jide fights for his life, Henry must try to convince Rita to take a chance on love.

Summary: When the town suddenly finds itself gripped by an epidemic of food poisoning, accusing fingers point at the local water supply, but journalist Henry Okey thinks otherwise. His inquiries lead him to a suspiciously cheap batch of imported food suddenly flooding the market place. As the epidemic worsens, the investigations it has stirred up reveal that poison becomes more potent when people don't pay attention.

Tired of the strife, destruction and blood shed she gathered a group of her peers for a protest at the local government head quarters. But will Barrister Williams listen? And more importantly, will the crowd stay to fight for peace, or destroy it?

When the doctor gives her the reasons why the forests should be preserved, Mrs Seka loses no time in taking action. But that is just the beginning…

Summary: Sophie and Tariah have been together on and off for years. Every time the issue of marriage comes up in their relationship, she runs away in panic. Although she would love to marry Tariah, they are from warring tribes. Mean while, Barrister Williams is quickly turning the local government into an employment centre for his village people. When the Barrister decides to eliminate other tribes from his office, and Sophie decides to integrate them into her life, both are surprised by the consequences.

Their parents are determined that at least one of them will follow in their footsteps. Renwa is adamant about becoming a lawyer but, fortunately, Reray has a strong interest in medicine. However an accident outside HopeRising makes an unexpected hero and leads to the salvation of more than one life.

As he awaits the results of his efforts, he begins to realize how much he's looking forward to returning to Campus life. However, when the student who got him expelled in the first place turns up again, Fortune finds that things might not work out exactly as he hoped.

Both young men are at a crossroads and will need a lot of love and support to make the right decision.

In the meantime Joke has to tell lies to her friends, Cynthia and Flakky, about how she gets her numerous wounds. And before her friends start throwing stones, it is worth remembering that Cynthia has no boyfriend and Flakky's boyfriend is cheating on her. Everyone has their problems, don't they?

Summary: Ada is sixteen, just out of secondary school and pregnant. Her boyfriend is an eighteen-year-old undergraduate in the university. Both are very scared. Ada confides in Cynthia who in turn takes her to Kaltume Bello for counselling. Kaltume's advises Ada to inform her mother but this backfires when Ada's Mom sends her packing from the house. Simply Sophie suggests an abortion. This seems to be the only option for Ada, especially since Obinna is all for it and has even gone raised the funds. Except, despite the pressures, Ada is not sure she is doing the right thing…

When the mandatory pre employment medical tests are released, Taofik's world comes tumbling down - he is HIV positive and the firm does not want him any more. There is nothing more to live for. Or so Taofik thinks…

Will Daniel escape the lion's den of corruption, while keeping madness and greedy friends at bay?

Desperate to stop him completely ruining their lives, she turns to his boss Mrs. Seka to intervene. But her help might just be coming too late.
