Films for Change Center
CFC works in partnership with the Television
Trust for the Environment (TVE) to produce and distribute
films on environment and development issues. Towards this
end, CFC maintains an ever-growing video library for rental
and sale to individuals, academic institutions, television
stations, media agencies, NGOs and the private sector. These
films include documentaries, docudramas, animation, public
service announcements, news reports and short feature films
that highlight environment and development issues. The information
contained in many of the films is a major resource for many
NGOs to support their programs and workshops.
Scenarios from the Sahel, for
example, was aired on many television stations in Nigeria
on World AIDS Day, and used as part of a campaign to educate
youth on HIV/AIDS. This collection of short humorous stories
dealing with HIV and AIDS prevention, was written by African
youths and produced by highly acclaimed African producers
across the continent. The audience response has been highly
favourable.
Furthermore,
the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting was also
an opportunity for CFC to distribute, Teme T Teme,
the story of an Ethiopian boy and the challenges he faces
trying to continue his education. The film was a double bill
with Kumari’s Surprise from Nepal.
Each of the films from our centre has been
praised for their high quality and relevant content.
